Master Grogin has had a passion for competition since the beginning of his martial arts journey. Starting in the late 1980's Master Grogin participated in competitions in his karate style. That passion continued when his journey took him to Tae Kwon Do in the 1990's. Competition was a big part of training and weekend life, competitive Olympic style sparring, Forms and Breaking events were regularly engaged in. Both local, state, regional and national level events were traveled to. In the mid 1990's when Master Grogin's experience grew, he added Kung Fu and Wu Shu competitions to the resume, competing in open hand patterns as well as many chinese weapons, including staff, three sections staff, broad sword and straight sword.

In 2008, Master Grogin's competitive passion was reignited when he was introduced to the USBA/WBA. His second competitive career focused mainly on power breaking, both wood and concrete.
